The Spontaneous Happening of Everything

In this satsang a retreat attendee was plagued with doubt and fear, feeling that he wasn’t “getting it.” Hanuman responded that the questioner already is pure consciousness, so there is nothing to strive for, nothing to seek, nothing to “get.” The questioner can simply relax in the knowledge that his true self is awareness. All the thoughts, doubts and fears are just passing through. His true self remains. No effort is necessary.

The attendee asked if it is possible to identify as witness. Hanuman responded that all identities come and go, and we are not any of them. Let everything come and go and see the spontaneous happening of everything. There is no constant state of bliss or peace. All states will change, all thoughts will pass. Letting go is a great friend.

Hanuman always encourages us to ask ourselves what it is we truly want. For most of us in satsang, it is peace and love. We can let the doubts, the fears and the unpleasant thoughts be the reminder to come home to Silence, Stillness, Heart. That’s grace.
